The Midsummer Exhibition
Graphic Design, Exhibition Design & Photography

This project involved layout, typography, and photography for multiple graphic design assets produced for a collaboration between the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto and The Largo's first art initiative, The Midsummer Exhibition.

The participating artists explored how a series of historical ceiling panels, discarded during the restoration of The Largo's heritage building, could be reimagined and staged in a present-day context through their perspectives. The exhibition explored the themes of architectural heritage, restoration and material upcycling.

The main assets included exhibition guides, jury handouts, and a series of posters — promoting the works of the five finalists.

The visual identity draws inspiration from the physical and historical features of the panels, including found pigments that inform the design's color story. Similarly, it features a complementary typeface, with angled and geometric shapes that resemble both the physical and emotional qualities of the ceiling panels.
